Brass United is an ensemble of five prominent brass players from different geographical and cultural backgrounds: Alexandre Baty and Wim Van Hasselt (trumpet), Jasper de Waal (french horn), Jörgen van Rijen (trombone) and Stephane Labeyrie (tuba). Their close friendship over the years has been nurtured by the fun of making music together and the desire to promote their beautiful instruments and bring a large audience to the very best in music for brass.
Pitch Black is Brass United’s début recording, and it presents a wide variety of new pieces and arrangements for brass quintet, accompanied by percussion, organ, harpsichord and ghetto blaster, related to dance and folk music.
